Winter Remedies & the Benefits of Turmeric

Turmeric
In this winter season, our yin sequence focuses on bringing health to the kidneys, adrenal glands and the bladder, as these are the organs being stimulated at this time. Incorporating turmeric to your regular diet regime during these cold months will: support joint health, nourish all internal organs and calm the nervous system. Try adding turmeric to your grains, potatoes and vegetables.

The Trinity Roots
Garlic, Ginger & Onion - add these to your diet every day.

Golden Milk Recipe
Simmer 5-7 minutes:
1/8 teaspoon tumeric
3 cardamom pods (optional)
1/4 cup water (approximately...add more water if this gets too dry)

Then add:
1 cup milk or soy milk (or any other non-dairy milk, such as almond or rice)
2 tablespoons almond oil

Bring liquid to the boiling point. Do not let it boil!
Add honey or maple syrup as desired to taste.

Traditional Recipe for Joint Health

Simmer 5-7 minutes:
1/8 teaspoon tumeric
3 cardamom pods (optional)
1/4 cup water (approximately...add more water if this gets too dry)

Then add:
1 cup milk or soy milk (or any other non-dairy milk, such as almond or rice)
2 tablespoons almond oil

Bring liquid to the boiling point. Do not let it boil!
Add honey or maple syrup as desired to taste.
